The end result doesn't matter!!!
Janie Larmour
We've all heard the expression, 'it's not the result, but the journey that matters'. In Zen Ki Yoga, it doesn't matter if you can't do an asana or a movement, as long as you are doing a little bit the right way, it's better than if you 'look like' you are doing the pose, but using all the wrong bits!!! . . .

The Psoas Muscle
Janie Larmour
The Psoas muscle is one of my favourite muscles to talk about and to work with in yoga because it is so, so important to our spine (and lower back health), our hormones, our sexual ability, our pelvic floor and other women's health issues - and lots more... . . .

Open the sides, release the back, build pressure in the belly - the key to health xx
Janie Larmour
In the spring time, it is time to open the body and work the liver and gall bladder meridians! If we are tight in the sides of the body and in the joints, we might feel a little frustrated and even express more anger than we really should. In oriental medicine, it is believed that if we are tighter through one side of the body (the hips or shoulders or even the entire side) it affects the nervous system and our moods. The imbalance from right to left causes differing sensations resulting in abnormal emotions -- including hyper-irritability. . . .

Working the heart meridian to connect mind, body and spirit…
Janie Larmour
As the weather warms up, it's time to nourish the heart and small intestine. Working on the heart meridian especially will result in a feeling of being more positive and 'lifted'. The heart is associated with joy and is the seat where thoughts and emotions meet and come into harmony. Opening this meridian will not only make you feel more connected to your spirit but lift your spirits as well. . . .

Flexibility using pressure points
Janie Larmour
We can improve our flexibility by pressing pressure points that seem to be in unrelated parts of the body. When we massage these points they release our body and we are able to stretch further. . . .

Breathing and weight loss
Janie Larmour
Incorrect breathing can actually affect your metabolism. Food needs to combust with oxygen in order to properly metabolise. If you are only breathing at 30% of your capacity, this won't be happening. If you walk around holding your belly in tight to look slimmer (which inhibits your breathing ability), you are actually having a negative effect on your metabolism AND therefore your weight loss efforts!! . . .

Strengthen your bladder!!!
Janie Larmour
Bladder weakness is becoming a growing problem in our society. Many factors contribute to it, including diet and lack of strength in our lower bellies, from our ever-increasing sedentary lifestyle. The good news is that you can do something about it - you can strengthen your bladder again. . . .

Macrobiotics
Janie Larmour
The beauty of macrobiotics is that there is not one diet for everyone, and even one diet can not be followed for the whole time either, because your diet changes you. . . .

Here's what our members are saying ...
"I've poured over the site, and found exercises that seem to suit my level of fitness and flexibility. I am impressed with your professionalism, and your very careful and precise communication. Thank you for making these classes available to those of us who live in isolated areas. It is something I have been wanting so much. Thanks again Janie. I feel like telling everyone how wonderful this site is and how convenient it is to have your yoga teacher at your beck and call whenever it is suitable. Great concept, excellent information and very effective postures. "

"The first thing I wrote to Janie about when I found this site, was whether the rib injury I had sustained months ago would stop me from the yoga classes. She gave me good advice, and amazingly, I have found that the postures that I have been working on have actually helped my rib tremendously. I now have no pain. I feel confident that I am developing a core strength which undoubtedly I didn't have when I injured my rib. "

"now at three months after the baby my core is amazingly strong, I'm getting more flexible and my pelvic floor muscles have never been so strong (pre or post baby!) Also my back, which takes a lot of punishment with two little children being carried a lot, feels opened up and so comfortable after your program. I will be continuing with the classes and look forward to seeing more improvement as time goes on, and I do hope to be able to attend a class in person some day in the future!."
